Okay. I don't want to get all negative on Parents Magazine, buuut..... I just received my February issue and there is another helpful article on shedding that baby weight. It is a fine article with clever suggestions for various meals and snacks. The photograph that appears at the beginning is what troubles me. I hoped the image would appear with the online article, but, they have cleverly chosen another image to mark the beginning of the piece. Here is a link to the article online: Get Your Body Back article I will describe the image for you as best I can. I understand that a magazine is going to showcase the best of the breed.... sure. So, of course, a beautiful woman is shown in what looks like to be a kitchen space. She is holding in her left arm, a baby that looks to be less than or equal to three months of age. In her right hand, she holds an apple. She is smiling and looking toward a fuzzy dish of fruit. The counter that the dish of fruit rests upon is partially covering the mother's left hip and belly. Here is the thing that bothers me so much: she is wearing a T-shirt that is riding up and showing her midriff. What new mother walks around wearing a midriff bearing anything?? Especially if she is concerned about "getting her body back"? This woman who graces this page of Parents magazine clearly has her body back.... if she ever lost it, that is. I know, why concern myself with this? I just think that I am supposed to find comfort and guidance in this publication. I am not very comforted with this juxtaposition of image and article. I wish that her shirt covered her belly. Maybe the counter could have covered her. Then, I would assume that she is just like me and then I would go on to heed the advice this piece has to offer. Instead, I am annoyed that they sent a babysitter to do a mother's job.
Okay, so, I wasn't going to put the image up... but, I couldn't resist. Hopefully, I won't get into any trouble. Sure, it is tasteful and fine--but, I just can't help but to disagree with the clothing choice... no, she doesn't need to be in a frumpy old robe -- but, it would be more believable if her figure were a little more nondescript.

omg, you should write a letter to the editor! i get so offended by stuff like this now. just today, a co-worker said "you look like you've lost almost all of your baby weight." that's right, she said ALMOST! am i weird for thinking that is rude? anyway, you are tiny and don't have anything to worry about :-)
xoxo, beth
No way, Beth~!! That is rude... thanks so much for your comment.. I was beginning to think that I was the one who was wrong here. And, thank you, I appreciate your last sentence, there... yes, I am offended by stuff like this (obviously) where, before I ever was pregnant, I wouldn't have given it a thought---haha
