Wow. Just in putting all of these photos into this post... I am reflecting over the past week and thinking about how fortunate I am. So much is happening... and it is not big stuff--it is just all these little things happening everyday that I appreciate so much; because---it is all of those little things that add up and make this simple life something to rejoice about.
I went in to the flower shop to clean last week--and my manager was still there--toiling away at 9:00pm--when I know very well that her day started as early as 6:30--hustling to the wholesale houses to see the fresh product in for the mix-n-match sale.... she worked until after ten and as she was contemplating the contents of the Wednesday folder-- turned to me and asked if I could design a couple of pieces for tomorrow morning's orders. I was glad to--so, I did. It was nice to turn my wheels for a little while---Below is one of the pieces I made. There is forsythia, larkspur, stock, bells of Ireland, and iris...it has a fairly traditional shape... but line plays a role in modernizing the design. On the left side, you may see that there appears to be something floating.... I attached thin silver wire to a water tube, hung it from the arching forsythia branch and inserted an iris....it was a nice punctuation to the negative space and hopefully it added another level of interest to the "fresh floral arrangement".
I took Hayes for his first bicycle ride....

We went to Trader Joe's for some groceries and when we got home, we discovered I had no house key. I remembered leaving it in my pant's pocket from the bike ride the day before... oops. So, it was before Scott's lunch--I texted and I called... Eventually, we got a phone call back and he was on his way. I called my neighbor and asked if we could store our frozen goods in her freezer-and she was happy to help us out. We had a nice time just sitting on the back steps, playing and eating our groceries. It was nice to see Scott in the middle of the day, too.
We stood on the front porch and watched Dad leave.

Buh-bye, Dada! (See Oli at the bottom edge?)

This looks dangerous. Look at all those weeds down there.

On Friday, Hayes and I picked up Sarah and Charlie and we all went yard sale-ing! It was such a great time! We chatted non-stop... cared for our babies non-stop .... shopped non-stop...
We both found things we were super excited about.... chatted with people we don't know
It was a good yard sale day.
I found --ahem... Hayes found this cute little thing--two dollars.... (I was looking at a clothing rack in one drive way and I watched him out of the corner of my eye walk next door to the neighbor's yard sale and check this out.) He really likes it. After I bought it, of course he just wanted to be on it. So, I had to pick him and the tractor up and carry all the way to the next yard sale.

We had my bff, Sarah's sister, Stephanie, come over on Saturday evening and have dinner with us and then stay with Hayes while we went out on a date. That was so exciting! I got dressed up and we got to go out and know that Hayes was in good hands. I wore one of my Goodwill tops --that white blouse-ey/gauz-ey one that I posted recently... tucked into a black pencil skirt--I bought last summer from JCP before I shot a friend's wedding and my favorite belt--this painted, cut and sculpted leather piece I found at an estate sale last summer... for four dollars. Yes. (Oh, and ya, I am in the ladies room at a bar.)
On Sunday Hayes and Scott helped me do a tear down at Holliday Park for JP Parker Flowers. It was the Orchard in Bloom event...

Hayes, supervising the on-load.

It was a fun family thing to do... we scored some free food, gave away some flowers and brought some flowers home.... check it--I made five little arrangements.... we get to enjoy these flowers for a few days, now... otherwise they would just be thrown away.. my house is smelling of stargazer lilies!
During one of our bike rides, yesterday, I noticed that the always popular baby swings were vacant.... we headed toward them so that Hayes could have his first ever park swing experience. Below are the adorable pictures I was able to grab--we really get to see his reaction....

This one looks so sad and sweet... he is swinging back to me...and I think it is the force that is weighing him down... he had a good time... I do love this picture, though.

And these two----obvious he is enjoying the ride!! I love how is legs look... they appear shorter because of the seat's shape... oh so cute...

Today, Hayes and I had a lunch date downtown on the canal with our bff, Sarah. We each brought our own lunch.. (no worries, I supplied Hayes's lunch) and sat out on the History Center's patio on the canal. It was beautiful out.... a perfect lunch!
I couldn't resist a picture....
Ahh, yes, Hayes and I traveled by bike to get to our lunch date.... mostly.... we drove and parked at the flower shop and pedaled the rest of the way... it was so fun cycling through the downtown sidewalks. We saw people walking for exercise, walking to lunch from the office, getting on the bus, working, kids out on a field trip, the CEO of Indiana History Center/Society... I said, "Hi, Mr. Herbst" as we pedaled by... he didn't know who I was--but he greeted me just the same.... haha... and a homeless man told me he liked my hat. Hahaha... I am sorry.. that is just funny to me--it really says a lot about my clothing choices... but I love it.... and I love my hat... I bought it for a quarter last Friday and then saw in Vogue that straw just happens to be "in". Ha.
Thanks, Sarah, for taking this photo of us....

Hayes fell asleep in the bike seat half way through downtown... I was really surprised. Lunch with Sarah must have worn him out... no--it was quite a bit of stimuli for one morning--I am sure riding through downtown was a trip for him.... he continued to sleep as I transferred him from one five point harness to the next, for the drive home, the carry in... and almost two more hours. Wow.
This is just one little week... I suppose my life is really not so simple... I don't mean simple like shampoo is a luxury-- I mean like--we are normal --you know, not a celebrity, not loaded, "not fancy"-- But, oh, do I feel fancy!
