Big Boy Haircut

Okay, the first two images have nothing to do with the "big boy haircut" but I could not help but to include them.  Hayes has his toy safety goggles on-which he does like to sport around the house as he rides toys, works with toy tools and his favorite thing to do as he wears his goggles is swim.  Yes, swim.  He likes to pretend he is swimming on our laminate floors.  He likes it best, though, if he has a swimming partner.  Last Friday, Hayes and I went to a couple of estate sales (ahhhh, yes, the season begins) and at one, the only thing we could begin to afford was a pair of Chem class goggles.  So, now, Scott and I have our very own pair (to share) of "swimming" goggles.  We are often found in the middle of the floor kicking our legs and "splashing" about.  I can not help but to attribute this love of swimming to the class that we took with our friends last Spring.  It lasted a month and was such a great time.  It was nice for the Mommies to get together on a regular basis and nice for the babies because they were being exposed to several new things.  We all parked afar, walked to and from class each time, undressed/showered/dressed in a locker room, entered into a huge pool and proceeded to learn and perform exercises with other families.  It really was a fantastic experience.  I am thinking about signing up again this season....
The folks at the Natatorium did a story on Sarah and her experience with the Guppy Program (she began classes there with her Mom when she was just a little girl, too)  They took pictures to complement the article.  Unfortunately, the link is no longer valid, but luckily, I ripped the photo off the page months ago.  Here we are.  Seems so long ago!

Now, getting back on track.... last night, Scott requested that I cut his hair.... he was long overdue.  Hayes watched as I buzzed around Scott's head with the clippers.  We repeatedly told him to steer clear of the piles of hair that were falling from Scott's head.  He could hardly resist.  He sat back just far enough away.... and then he began to reach his leg toward a tuft, extending his big toe ever so quietly and slightly... just to touch the hair... Finally, I asked him to help me by brushing the clipped hairs off of his Dad's back.... he was happy to do so.  He did a good job, surveying, walking around Scott, swiping that little brush across any place he saw loose hair.  When his Papa's cut was finished, Hayes said, "Daddy all done."  And as we began to clean up, Hayes said, "Cut my hair?"  I agreed.  I usually use a comb and scissors to do the job.  Last night, I decided to give him a cut just like his Dad gets.

Hayes did a great job sitting still.  He watched tv most of the time... flinching here and there.

The clippings here tickling his nose.

In the photo below, it looks like we are both in pain-we weren't.  I think I might have poked his ear with the guard.... I just think this is a pretty funny picture-no fear, though, no one was being hurt.... I am sure my expression is that of both concentration and concern. (Not disapproval.)

At last, the end result: Hayes looks even more like his Daddy than he did before!

Twins.

My good lookin' guys.... This haircut on Hayes is the shortest it has ever been.  I am a little bit sad because he hardly looks like my little baby Hayes.  Oh well, that is what we are working on, anyway, isn't it?  Growing up.  And, yes, you did see big boy underwear in the first photo.  (And an Indiana University [temporary] tattoo. Haha)  We are trying.  It isn't everyday yet-baby steps to become a big boy.... for both of us.

Good for you, cutting hair like a pro! I actually drove by the "Village Beauty Salon" this a.m and noticed it had closed after 41 years, and thought to myself "maybe Paula would like to move to Washington and reopen it!" I know, I know, you probably do not want to move to Washington. Since we can't leave right now, I just try to lure everyone else back here...
Anyway, the boys look very sharp. We are moving in the opposite (yet still cost-saving) direction with both boys growing their hair LONG. We shall see.
Thanks for the cutie post and pics. I love the photos of Hayes swimming (both real and imaginary). I would totally sign up for that class if I were you. I am jealous!
Take care, PJ!
XOXO
