Baby It's Hot Outside

With the humidity levels factored in, the heat index here in Indianapolis is 115 degrees.  That is what it feels like.  So, we are trying to keep cool all while keeping it cool... if ya know what I mean.  Before we took a trip to the oh so impressive Central Library.... we shot these images with photobooth on the good ol' imac.  I am wearing-you guessed it-the Sanzo sandals--because that is what I wear. Every.Day... and an old dress I got probably at walmart or target back in 1997... it has always been what I thought of as my kindergarten teacher dress... and it is slightly too small... shhhhh.  Don't tell anyone.  I belted it (even though it has those handy dated built-in ties at the back) with a skinny leather belt found at Goodwill... it has this adorable little horse shoe stamp on the end.... which no one would ever notice and tells me that it was probably a little girl's belt.... I am wearing (not visible) amber stud earrings gifted from my Mary Jane on one of my summer visits to her home in Crystal Lake.... and a Victorian locket with paste stones in the shape of a crescent moon and an opal that creates the center of a star... it is the exact same as my Mother's locket which was passed down through generations to her... I bought mine when I was in grade school at the Washington Catholic Summer Social country store for 50 cents...I saw it in a box full of tangled chains, single earrings and such-I recognized it as being special--I saw my Mother wear the same thing...and my Grandmother pictured wearing it and my Great Grandmother, too.... and then, right there in that very moment of the exchange--50 cents for something so cool and now, with automatic sentimental meaning(not to mention the former sentiment that followed it--the photograph was still inside this locket!!)--my love for thrifting, yard sale-ing, treasure hunting, vintage things... was born.  Oh, would you like to see the image that lived in that 50 cent locket?  Oh, yes, I meant that former sentiment followed it--and became mine--as if I will ever knowingly discard that little round image... neva!!!!!!!!
here is a random baby I do not know pictured wearing the same locket.

Okay, wow, I went on a tangent, there....  anyway-nonetheless-below: a product of staying inside and thank goodness we have air conditioning!!!! Even though, Hayes and I like to periodically do these photobooth shoots, I think I may have slightly been inspired by a blogger that I adore: Claire, over at one claire day shared a lovely link today to a site that showcases stylish Moms.  THE GLOW  OH, does it glow... these Mothers aren't photographing themselves like I am--what a nerd?!  But--they are having a great time with their kiddos...(and they are successful, too!!!) and being oh so glamorous while doing so... I certainly think that Claire's blog--as she is a stylist and Mother with very interesting things to share--is one to follow...and The Glow is one to bookmark, too

Oh ya... the ring! That turquoise ring is in the shape of a turtle. It was my Mom's ring. She gave it to me... or I claimed it as my own--not quite sure... but-it was from her hippie days...
thanks for your comment, Claire!!

You two are adorable! Totally Glow-worthy. What a lucky little man to have such a fun-loving mom. I hope you make an album out of this that he can treasure forever :)
