So, in light of slightly tough times, I decided I would try to make a buck off of some of my stuff before I hauled it to Goodwill... Is having a sale in your front yard a heck of a lot of work?  Gosh yes.  Probably more than it is worth?  Absolutely.  I am getting good at it, though... not good in the sense of I make hella cash... but good in the sense of-I know how to stage it so it is shopper friendly and inviting.... and I guess, for a day, I can pretend I own a store.  I know, I am a huge nerd.  I am okay with it.  (Speaking of me being a neeerdirino--I am wearing an American Shirt Dress and an apron my Mother made for me. And as usual the Sanzo sandals...)  I entertained shoppers from 9-1:30 and began packing things up.... The day went very smoothly because I had Scott to hang signs last night, had him to help me set up the heavy stuff, had my dear friend, Stephanie, to help with Hayes and then had my dear neighbor, Cathy, to help me carry stuff and pack my car to its capacity in order to, now, unload it onto Goodwill.  So, I am dusting my hands off and thankful it is over.....

I was kinda proud of my Craigslist ad.... I composed it at 2:30am...because, ya, like college days, I was up until after 3am....and up by 7am....  anyway--I wanted to attract-really attract people... and I did... some shoppers even noted my ad.  I was pretty much tickled over that.

Garfield Neighborhood is having a community rummage sale.... so, after you stop by there, or on your way there-please drop by [my house] There will be a beautiful display of gently used items and quirky objects. More specifically: An antique Standard Sewing Machine(pictured), a grossly over sized hand fan, keg tap(you know you need to be ready to tap a keg at any moment), classic wooden hat tree coat rack, limited amount of women's clothing size medium, boys clothing size 4T-6/7, complete large box of size 5 diapers, toys, books for all ages, plexiglass thingies, romantic Mexican hammock, lawn mowers, four lamp rustic cabin chandelier, vintage wooden folding chair with (intact) white vinyl seat which would love to be stuffed and stapled with your favorite material.... and more! Also, fresh herbs will have been harvested from our back yard garden, rinsed and arranged in clam shells ready for the buying....yum. (limited qty) Prices marked to sell.....Come and make me an offer-it isn't that I can't refuse-I just probably won't!

Garfield Sellers are starting no earlier than 10am.... I will be setting things out starting at 9AM. If you show up then, I welcome you, but I will still be setting up; forgive me for my foreseeable scatterbrainedness.

Cheers and Happy Shopping!

I think I said this after my last yard sale:  Glad that is over.... I am not doing that for a very long time!

Happy Weekend!

i love yard sales! we have one every year and i always say that i am going to stop doing it, and then i take stuff to goodwill for like a month and then start collecting again. we are going to try to do a big "no pricetag" sale next year for our adoption expenses. my sister's friend swears by her no pricetag sales, she said she made more money than if she'd set prices herself. we shall see. but the herbs are very very cool. i kind of entertained the idea of growing/ selling pumpkins because we used to do that when i was a little girl. funny, i don't remember the work part of it. anyway, i am glad you had a successful day!

Oh--yes, yes! I have always loved yard sales... I can even remember my first yard sale purchase: two mismatched punch cups. I didn't tag everything yesterday.... I have heard that if you don't tag it-the buyer doesn't have a starting point to talk you down.... so-that is a good idea...Funny thing about the herbs-I ended up giving them away... people told me-I don't use herbs or I sprinkle the dry ones.... boohoo. Thank you--I thought it was a good idea...herbs are so expensive! I didn't know you grew pumpkins when you were little... or your parents did...hehe Well, I want to come to that sale next summer.... I will shoot ya a price.... thanks for commenting, Beth!!
